Company Profile

Company History

It all began with esthetic center Labelle, the first one for high standard public in Brazil, founded by Erothides Godoy and Lúcia Iervolino in 1968 with next generation treatments, such as sun tanning. They were pioneers in that business, that grew and in 1974, they were able to establish BC Cosmetic, a cosmetics distributor, in society with Hughette Choffi Corazza.

One year later, the BC Group's first industry was founded: Karina Cosmetics. They started producing Karina Hair Spray, a product that has been a leader in Brazilian market for more than 30 years.

In 1976, the group started to distribute the hair conditioning Neutrox, a cosmetic that became a market leader short time after being distributed by BC Cosmetic.

In 1980, after four years of success, BC Group decided to buy the Neutrox factory, Coper, and changed it from Rio de Janeiro to São Paulo at that same year. That facility, in São Paulo, would become the largest after shampoo product manufacturer in the world.

Under Erothides Godoy, Lucia Iervolino and Hughette Choffi Corazza command, Neutrox became a market leader in Brazil, which it is until the present day. In 1981, the product success impelled the group to establish its third industry, DOGAL, supplying Neutrox packages, flasks and lids.

In 1983 they founded their second distributor with its own fleet, with more than 160 vehicles. Two years later was the time for the third distributor, also with its own fleet.

In 1984, the Group had already exclusive distributors in all Brazilian states and in the following years in Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and France

In 1985, BC Group established a joint venture with the German company Schwarzkopf to produce cosmetics under that multinational license. In that year the group achieved more than 120 products commercialized and more than 200 in the following years.

Plenty of products achieved great success, such as Ele Ela, Silhueta, Kolene, Capivida, Neutrox, Neutrox 2, Karina, etc.

The group started to run another new business in 1995. They bought Sottozero, an Italian ice cream factory, which produces the finest gelatos in Brazil with more than 25 shops.

In 1992, in a partnership with Enisson Godoy, they started the construction of Golden Port Marina in Ubatuba, with room for 100 yachts on water and 250 yachts on land. Business was expanding, and in 1995 Golden Dock was founded, also in a partnership with Enisson Godoy. The company produced naval structure for the Brazilian Navy and was the official Rio Boat Show floating Docks supplier.

In 1996, Emage Studios, an advertising agency and bureau service, was created. It was also a successful history working for big companies in Brazil, such as Loccitane, Wal Mart Brazil, Ferretti, Pershing, Monark, Estate of Tocantins (Brazilian Government) and others.

In 2002, the BC Group acquired Offshore magazine.

After years of success, the cosmetic segment of the group was sold and also Offshore magazine. They started this new enterprise, the Sunboats Catamarans, because innovating business did not stop to run through the both entrepreneurs.

Sunboats Emerges

Godoy and Iervolino families have been in love with the seas for more than 30 years. In 2001, the family went to French Polynesia. There they found a stable option for navigating, minimizing seasickness, in catamarans. The family rented a catamaran there and it was just a matter of time to get in love with that kind of boat.

When they came back to Brazil, they started looking for a shipyard that could build a catamaran motor yacht. Godoy family could find only sailing catamarans. When the French company Lagoon launched its 43 feet catamaran motor yacht, the Godoys soon bought one.

Unfortunately, a 43 feet yacht was too small for them. So, they started a new search: someone who could make a larger motor yacht. As a coincidence, they were the publishers of the Offshore magazine at that time and a newsprint showed a catamaran yacht produced by Thierry Stump for Rolim Amaro, TAM Airlines owner - the biggest airline company in Brazil.

They decided to buy an 80 feet catamaran motor yacht from Thierry. About two months after the construction, Godoys' friends started to get interested in visiting the vessel because it was much larger than a monohull with the same LOA. After a short visit to the shipyard, Lúcia Iervolino decided to buy a catamaran too. The both are 80 feet luxury catamarans: Godoys' Atlantis and Iervolinos' Antares.

As the group sold most of its industries, they saw in luxury catamarans motor yachts a great business opportunity. So they started a partnership with Thierry Stump.

Once more, pioneer spirit has prevailed and Sunboats Catamarans was born, high standard vessels that changed perception and broke paradigms.
